Mark Zuckerberg announced Meta VR Glasses, the Muse Charm and Meta’s first audio-only glasses. Most of it is a 2027 consumer story — but one announcement is a business tool you can use now.
Verified against Meta’s own Connect 2026 announcement on 25 September 2026.
Meta announced four things at Connect 2026 on 23 September: Meta VR Glasses at $1,299.99 for spring 2027, the Muse Charm pocket device, its first audio-only Ray-Ban Meta glasses, and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3. Meta has not announced a price or date for the Muse Charm.
For a business, the announcement that matters is not hardware. Muse, Meta’s AI agent, can now drive any app on a Mac with your permission, has been given its own email address, and connects to Notion, GitHub and Box. That is available to evaluate now, where the glasses and the VR device are months to eighteen months away.
| Product | Price | Availability |
|---|---|---|
| Meta VR Glasses | $1,299.99 | Spring 2027 |
| Muse Charm | Not announced | Not announced — “more to share later this year” |
| Ray-Ban Meta Audio (first audio-only glasses) | Not stated in Meta’s post | Announced at Connect |
| Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) | Not stated in Meta’s post | Announced at Connect |
| Muse agent upgrades | — | Rolling out; glasses support “in the coming months” |
Prices circulating for the two glasses lines come from press coverage rather than Meta’s own post, so we have left those cells as stated rather than repeating unverified figures.
Most of Connect was consumer hardware. One announcement was not, and it got far less attention than the glasses: Muse, Meta’s AI agent, can now drive a computer.
In Meta’s words, computer use is available with Muse for Mac, and with your permission “Muse can now drive any app on your Mac. You can walk away from your computer and it keeps working for you on all the tasks you’ve lined up.”
Three other Muse changes point the same direction:
That is a different product category from smart glasses. It puts Meta into the same territory as the agent features in the major AI models, and it is the piece a small business could plausibly use this year.
Meta is positioning these partly as a workspace rather than only a games device. The stated capabilities: multi-panel virtual displays, surface input that turns any table into a keyboard and touchpad, navigation by eye and hand gesture rather than controllers, and the ability to extend the screens of other devices.
At about 100 grams with the battery and processors moved into a clip-on puck, the weight problem that made previous headsets impractical for a working day is the thing Meta has most obviously attacked. Whether that translates into people actually working in them is a question only shipping hardware answers — and that is spring 2027.
This is speculative and we are labelling it as such, but it is the use case most relevant to the businesses we write for. Meta says Muse is coming to its AI glasses and can act on what you are looking at — asking about a product on a shelf, a flier on a wall, a list.
For contractors and trades, hands-busy work is the norm: on a ladder, under a sink, in a loft. Hands-free lookup, capture and note-taking is a real fit for that shape of work in a way it is not for desk jobs. The obvious uses would be documenting a job as you do it, pulling up a part number without washing your hands first, or capturing before-and-after photos without handling a phone.
None of that is shipping. Muse on glasses is “in the coming months”. This is a reason to pay attention, not a reason to buy.
For a small business, almost certainly not yet, and the dates are the reason:
The unglamorous truth is that for most small businesses the AI spend that returns money this year is still ordinary software: a website that converts, scheduling, invoicing, quotes going out the same day. Wearables are a 2027 conversation. If your website is the weak link, our builder ranking and free audit are a more direct use of the same budget.
The headline hardware is a 2027 story. The Muse agent is a 2026 one, and it is the only part of this announcement a small business can act on today.
Watch the glasses for hands-busy trades — that is where they could genuinely earn their place. Do not budget for them this year.
Wearables are a 2027 conversation. A website that turns searches into calls is a this-week one. XAIWebsites generates a complete business website — copy, layout, mobile version and hosting — from a short questionnaire.
Meta announced Meta VR Glasses ($1,299.99, spring 2027), Muse Charm (a pocket device for its Muse AI agent, pricing and date not yet announced), its first audio-only glasses in the Ray-Ban Meta line, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, and a series of Muse agent upgrades including computer use on Mac. Connect took place on 23 September 2026.
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, introduced shortly before Connect. At Connect, Meta announced real-time voice conversation, an avatar, availability on its AI glasses in the coming months, its own email address, and computer use on Mac — meaning that with your permission it can drive any app on your machine while you are away from it.
Meta lists $1,299.99 USD, available spring 2027. They weigh about 100 grams — Meta says five times lighter than Meta Quest 3 — with a 5K Infinite Display on micro-OLED panels, and a two-part design that moves the battery and processors into a puck you clip to a belt, pocket or bag.
Meta has not announced pricing or a release date. Its blog says only that it will have “more to share later this year.” Figures circulating in press coverage — size, screen, connectivity — come from reporting rather than from Meta, so treat them as unconfirmed.
Potentially, for hands-busy work. Meta says Muse is coming to its AI glasses in the coming months and can act on what you are looking at. For a trade or field business — someone on a ladder, under a sink, or on a site visit — hands-free capture and lookup is a plausible fit. It is not shipping yet, so this is a reason to watch rather than to buy.
Almost certainly not yet. The VR Glasses are spring 2027, Muse Charm has no announced date or price, and Muse on glasses is “coming months.” The one thing available to try today is the Muse agent itself. For most small businesses the practical AI spend still sits in ordinary software — a website, scheduling, invoicing — not in wearables.
Meta lists retail and payment connectors including Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Ulta, Wayfair, Shop Pay and PayPal, with Expedia and Instacart for travel and groceries. For work it lists Notion, Granola, GitHub and Box. It also has access to the Shopify catalogue.
Specifications, prices and dates on this page come from Meta’s own announcement. Where a figure exists only in press coverage, we have said so rather than repeating it as confirmed.
